ADVENTURE HIKE TO PIDURANGALA AT SUNRISE OR SUNSET
Pidurangala is an enormous rock located a few kilometres north of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The two rocks have an interlinked history: in the 5th century, while King Kasyapa was building the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, he relocated some monks living around the Sigiriya Rock to a new monastery on Pidurangala Rock. In addition to being a historical highlight, Pidurangala offers a more challenging climb than Sigiriya and is very popular among the more adventurous visitors. Those with poor physical fitness should not attempt this climb. There is no clear path to the top: steep, uneven steps give way to an expanse of boulders and crevices, which climbers must navigate to reach the summit. However, those who reach the summit are rewarded with glorious vistas of the surrounding landscape and an incredible view of the majestic Sigiriya Rock.
